This year, Cardstream has chosen Mind in Somerset to be our ‘Charity of the Year’. With a vast number of events being held over the course of 2021, we are, as Team Cardstream, extremely privileged and excited to raise vital funds for such an important charity.
Why are we supporting Mind in Somerset?
There has never been a greater need for Mind than in the current climate. Mental health problems in England, Wales and across Europe are on the rise: by the end of 2021, depression will be the leading cause of health problems in Europe and the cost of poor mental health to our society exceeds £110bn.
Mind in Somerset aims to promote good mental health and wellbeing, to provide a voice, and champion a greater understanding of mental health issues in the community across Somerset, whilst operating to the highest standards of governance and best practice.
Here at Cardstream, we wanted to mirror the values of Mind in Somerset by engaging our team in a variety of different activities and challenges that are not only fun, but also bond-building, thus bringing our team closer together and raising everyone’s personal sense of well-being at this particularly trying time.
Cardstream’s Charity Events:
Last month, Team Cardstream held a virtual charity pub quiz over Microsoft Teams. This proved to be an exhilarating event hosted by our Head of Partner Growth, Jack Mangnall. Our team paid to enter to win the prize pot whilst we were treated to five distinctive rounds of questions, ranging from geography and current affairs to music and celebrities, with of course, a round on payments.
This month, we are thrilled to be partnering with Snap Fitness Gym in Taunton to hold the Ride for Mind Fundraising Challenge where Team Cardstream as well as the team over at Snap Fitness will cycle the 837 mile distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats over a 5 day period only using a spin exercise bike which will be situated in our office. We, as a team, are keen to participate in as many physical activities/challenges as possible this year, as we want to raise awareness to the wider public of the benefits of physical activity for improving mental health and overall promoting positive well-being, both during the pandemic and after it.
With this in mind, over the summer months we are also participating in the Tough Mudder South West obstacle endurance event to support those with a mental illness. This event, no doubt, will thoroughly test our physical and mental strength both as individuals and as a team.
Remember: Challenge your limits, don’t limit your challenges!
